WHAT IS BOTOX?
Botox is a non-surgical cosmetic & medical treatment that temporarily relaxes targeted facial muscles to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Commonly used for:
- Upper face: forehead lines, eyebrow lift, frown lines, nose (bunny lines) and crow's feet (eyes).
- Lower face: grinding, jawline contouring, dimpled chin, lip flip, gummy smile and raise downward corners of the mouth.
- Neck: reduce vertical bands.
- Skin quality: it helps reduce pore size, oily skin, acne and rosacea.
- Excessive sweating: hands, armpits and feet.
Botox helps create a smoother, more refreshed appearance while preserving your natural facial expressions. Treatment is quick, require little to no downtime, and results typically become noticeable within a few days.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
When we express ourselves and use our facial muscles, a nerve impulse is sent to these muscles instructing them to contract.
After years of frequent contractions combined with environmental and lifestyle factors, the collagen breaks down and permanent lines are formed. Botox interrupts this process by relaxing the muscles while still leaving it functional to allow you to look natural, rested and rejuvenated.
HOW MANY UNITS DO I NEED?
There are many areas in the face & neck that can be treated with botox: the size, shape and strength of the target muscles vary between patients and for this reason the cost and dose used to get the cosmetic / medical effect will also be different. Botox is measured in units and the cost will depend on the patient needs.
DURING THE TREATMENT
During your initial consultation at our botox clinic in Nuevo Vallarta, Dr. Walters will perform a comprehensive facial examination that thoroughly evaluates the shape of your face, the presence of wrinkles and lines as well as the overall quality of your skin to determine the role of Botox treatment in your rejuvenation journey.
A key component of this examination is to confirm that the wrinkles of concern are the result of muscle activity and not volume loss, which would need a different or complementary treatment.
After taking photos and signing the consent, your skin will be cleaned and Botox will be injected to the targeted areas using very fine needles.

upper face
Forehead Lines
10-25 units
Horizontal lines on the forehead reflect fatigue and low eyebrows may show anger. Botox can slightly raise the eyebrows and reduce wrinkles for a rested, relaxed and younger appearance.
Frown Lines (11's)
20-30 units
The muscles between the eyebrows are very strong and when you frown or squint you generate folds & wrinkles that eventually will become permanent causing an angry appearance.
Eyes (crow's feet)
15-30 units
When you smile or squint the muscles on the corner of the eyes (orbicularis oculi) gets activated and creates wrinkles known as crow´s feet. They can be charming or they can add years to your look.
Lower Face & Neck
Gummy Smile

Botox treatment is applied with small injections at strategic points in the muscles responsible of elevating the upper lip excessively. This method is painless and effective, it can last between 3 to 4 months.
Face Slimming
40-60 units
The masseter muscles are responsible for chewing, grinding and tension in the area.
If they are very strong, they will create a more squared lower face. Botox can slim the muscle to help contour the lower face.
Dimpled Chin
15-25 units
Botox is a very effective treatment for dimpled chins, it helps to relax the contraction of the mentalis muscle, which is located in the chin and below the lower lip.
Neck Bands
40-70 units
Vertical neck bands result in a long, string-like appearance on both sides of the neck.
The injection of Botox is used to relax and smooth the platysma muscle, resulting in a much smooth neck appearance.
Lip Flip
4-6 units
A lip flip is a popular procedure that makes your lips look fuller without the need of fillers. We inject between 4 - 7 units into the upper lip border to make it ‘flip’.

Migraines

When you have a migraine, your body releases substances and molecules that are associated with pain.
Botox interferes with the transmission of these substances, typically where the nerves and muscles meet. Studies show that when Botox is injected into the muscles of the face, head and neck it can reduce the strenght of the migraines.
Bruxism or Grinding
40-100 units
Chronic clenching of the jaw or grinding of the teeth, a condition known as bruxism, can have a variety of problematic effects. It can cause pain and tension in the jaw, chronic headaches, earaches, facial pain and damage to your teeth. Botox can help alleviate the symptoms of bruxism by relaxing the masseter muscles.
Excessive Sweating

This condition is called hyperhidrosis, it affects around 30-50% of the population, some have a genetic or stress underlying causes, most of the time the cause is unknown.
Botox will block some of the sweating glands so they can produce less sweat. This is a very safe and quick treatment that can give you up to 1 year of results!
Sequelae of Bell's Palsy
50-100 units
After facial paralysis, many recover and others are left with unbalanced muscle contractions. Combining fillers and advanced Botox techniques, certain muscles can be relaxed to improve the symmetry.
Microtox

Microtox uses a very diluted Botox that is injected to the skin. This technique is used to improve fine lines, uneven texture, enlarged pores, oily skin, regulate sebum production, flushing & rosacea.
